Book News: 'Teen Wolf' star cast in upcoming 'The Maze Runner' movie

A while ago, an announcement was released stating that The Maze Runner by James Dashner is coming to film and is expected to release on February 14, 2014.  Wes Ball will direct the film.

Book Synopsis:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every thirty days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

Since the press release went out about this film, a few characters have been cast.  But two days ago, the lead role of Thomas was cast.  Here is a summary of cast so far:

The 280-week bestselling novel The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is going to be adapted into an English-language film by Fox 2000 and is expected to release  in the U.S. in January 2014.

As soon as I heard about this, my jaw dropped to the floor.  If you have not read The Book Thief yet, I will just say that is my absolute most favorite book in the entire universe!  Of course I am super stoked about this movie!  Enough about me, and now to more news.

The film will be produced by Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight 2008, New Moon 2009, Eclipse 2010) and Ken Blancato.  Production is scheduled to begin this month in Berlin, Germany.  Brian Percival (Downton Abbey, 2010-2012) will be directing the film.  This sounds amazing already!

And, the five main leads have been cast:

If you haven't read Vampire Academy, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:
St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school–it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's–the very place where they're most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.

I read this book back in 2008 so I am more than ready.  Are you as excited as I am?
